Waitrose to open in Bressenden Place, Victoria

Waitrose has reached an agreement with Tishman Speyer to open a new store in Bressenden Place, Victoria, in September 2016.

The shop will become the tenth Waitrose store in the City of Westminster where its shops now employ more than 1,000 people.

The 9,000 sq ft unit is a short walk from the John Lewis Partnership and John Lewis head offices and will add to the existing 3,000 sq ft little Waitrose store in Victoria Street.

Waitrose expects to create approximately 60 jobs with all employees becoming Partners in the John Lewis Partnership. As such they will have a stake in the success of the business, a say in how it is run and a share in profits.

Last year existing Partnership employees received the equivalent of almost six weeks’ wages in bonus so a significant proportion of profits remain in the communities in which Waitrose serve.

Thousands of products will be available to select from at the new store, including its essential Waitrose range, freshly made baguettes, hot ready to eat snacking foods and award-winning wines.

Nigel Keen, Director of Development at Waitrose, said:

“Our existing stores have really established the Waitrose brand in the borough and this is an exciting opportunity to give even more shoppers access to a wider Waitrose offer. We cannot wait to welcome our new customers in September."
